Johann Kuhnau was een Duitse componist, klavecinist en organist. Hij was Thomascantor (cantor van de Thomasschule en de Thomaskirche) in Leipzig tot zijn dood. Zijn persoonlijke vriend Johann Sebastian Bach volgde hem op. Kuhnaus muziek is innovatief, melodieus en inventief. De Italiaanse organist Stefano Molardi speelt op twee Duitse historische orgels: Het Silbermann Orgel uit 1714 in de Dom van Freiberg, en op het Silbermann Orgel uit 1722 in de Marienkirche in Rötha. Deze 3CD set bevat de eerste integrale opname van de orgelwerken van Kuhnau! Stefano Molardi is een van de belangrijkste Italiaanse organisten, gespecialiseerd in barokmuziek. Zijn vele opnamen (waaronder een zeer geprezen volledige Bach-cyclus op Brilliant Classics) hebben grote bijval gewonnen in de internationale pers.
