If you like the music of Daquin and Balbastre then Michel Corrette (1707-1795) is right down ( or up, if you prefer) your alley. Most members of American (and probably English) Church Choirs are familiar with some of the Noels of Daquin as they are favorites of Church organists as postludes or preludes at Christmas time. French choirs as well, no doubt. In any event, you will hear many of those themes, tho in somewhat different 'takes' here. CD 1 contains an 'overture', then the lovely 'Messe pour le temps de Noel' , followed by 'Carillon'. CD 2 contains four Christmas Suites for organ, Olivier Vernet is the organist, does himself proud, and two women, Guillemette Laurens and Anne Magouet, join him in the Mass to great effect. THIS REALLY IS A TREAT AT CHRISTMAS TIME OR ALL YEAR ROUND!
Uitg. zeer mooi!
